Develop – Spring/Summer 2014

The Spring/Summer 2014 issue of Develop – the Salvation Army’s International Development (SAID) newsletter – is now available. One of the featured articles – The Long and Broken Road to Freedom – reflects on two award winning films. The first film, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, is the biopic of the late, great South African leader and global elder. The second film, 12 Years A Slave, picked up the Best Film Award at both the BAFTAs and the Oscars.

The main content of the publication focuses on the numerous projects running around the world. This issue includes:

  • Water Works – Revisiting communities in Kenya to see how money raised through Watershed is being implemented
  • Cry Freedom – An introduction to Cry Freedom The Salvation Army’s attempt to fight against trafficking around the world
  • Common Wealth – In many parts of the world many people are materially poor but rich in community spirit. Generation seeks to tap into this natural resource to bring change to the whole community
  • Family Portraits – Through Embrace The Salvation Army is being family to children in Paraguay who are in desperate need of love, care and support
