Work

A little peek at some of the work I've done

Below is a sample of work I’ve done for small businesses and charities (plus a few others that don’t fit neatly into these categories).

If you’d like to read a bit more about any of these projects click on the pictures. A lovely little pop will appear with a very brief description about the work – and some even have some nice words the client wrote about the work.

Business

Survey Homes

Survey Homes was started in 2014 by Chartered Surveyor Kevin O’Shaughnessy. On hearing that Kevin was starting his own business a mutual friend recommended me as someone who could help with the businesses design needs.

For a self confessed IT dinosaur, the thought of setting up a website (for my new surveying business) filled me with dread! After a friend recommended Barry’s website design services, I made contact with Barry and he quickly worked out what type of site I needed. He dealt with the whole design process (including my logo) which has resulted in a website that meets all my requirements. It is pivotal to my new business and has already paid for itself! I would strongly recommend Barry’s services.

The Dryhanger

Logo | Website | Leaflet | Assembly sheet

The Dryhanger was invented by Tim Brown based on an idea his granny - an internationally renowned cashmere designer and manufacturer, who lived on the Isle of Arran on the west coast of Scotland. The Dryhanger is designed to help dry garments that can easily stretch and become misshapen after washing. I helped Tim by setting him up with an e-commerce website, designing the logo, a publicity leaflet and an assembly sheet.

I feel very fortunate to have found Snap Designs. I asked Barry to design a logo for a new product that I was bringing to market. He has since gone on to design and complete a leaflet, assembly sheet and an e-commerce website. Helping me to establish brand identity and build a strong platform in which to sell my product online have given me just the start I need.

Ethical Goods

Website

Ethical Goods seek to form and sustain effective partnerships between business and charities to have the best possible impact on people, planet and profit. Having successfully transferring the original Ethical Goods website to WordPress in 2012 I was asked to redesign the site, making it mobile and tablet friendly.

I can’t recommend Barry at Snap Designs highly enough for both web design and advice on content and updates. Suffice to say I’ve used him for nearly 10 years at various appointments and his most recent work has really improved our web presence. Of particular note we’ve seen our online sales and contact improve through his knowledge and work. I not only look for suppliers who are excellent at what they do but quality AND value are equally important to me. You get that in spades with Barry. Finally, I also look for human beings! I like dealing with people who understand what we want, who are nice, who are easy to communicate with (in all ways!) and who act fairly. I think that describes Barry perfectly.

In all of this time I have produced two company websites, various leaflets and flyers, exhibition stands, as well as numerous client forms.

Thanks for the redesign of our website. You clearly understood the brief, and we are delighted with the result. Even more so now the enquiries are coming through!

Charity

Frontier Youth Trust

Website | Newsletters | Exhibition stands | Event publicity

Frontier Youth Trust (FYT) work with disadvantaged young people and they use their experience and research to support and train others working in this area. I helped them build a mobile-friendly e-commerce website, produce exhibition stands and design their regular newsletter.

We have been very impressed with the ease of liaison and communication with Barry and ultimately the high quality of the end product as a result. The work is delivered at a very competitive rate as well, which is important for us as a small charity in the current economic climate.

See Kenya

Website

See Kenya are a UK based charity working to reduce blindness and provide specialist treatment and eye care services to marginalised communities within Kenya. I was asked to help build a website based on designs produced by another designer.

The design provided was for the desktop view so I produced a design for the mobile view before coding the site. The site is built on a content management system so the guys at See Kenya have the ability to upload latest news and add new content.

Merton Against Trafficking

Logo | Website | Exhibition stands | Stationery | Publicity

Merton Against Trafficking (MAT) is a voluntary organisation dedicated to the elimination of trafficking people for exploitation within the London Borough of Merton.

As well as designing the group’s logo, I designed and developed the website. The site is built to enable the users to edit existing content and add relevant news items. A business-card sized flyer was also produced to advertise the launch of the website. I have also produced leaflets, exhibition stands and stationery for the group.

Dolphin School

Logo | Website | Leaflets | Prospectus

Dolphin School is an independent school located in south London. I was asked to help with a number of design projects for both the school and the nurseries (Noah's Ark Nursery Schools). These included new logos, websites, stationery and prospecti.

Dolphin School has just completed a comprehensive re-branding project with Barry Sawyer of ‘Snap Designs’, with the brief ranging from updating our school logo to re-designing all our stationery to creating two dynamic and contemporary prospecti and two websites for our nursery and primary schools. What is notable about Barry Sawyer’s approach is his willingness to understand the spirit of the schools and to allow us to bring our ideas to fruition through his expertise and experience, without dominating or imposing his views. The result is an innovative, contemporary and user-friendly range of material, which speaks colourfully and authentically about who we really are.

Capriccio Strings

Logo | Website | Stationery

The multi-award winning members of the Capriccio Strings quartet have graced many wonderful occasions. Comprising some of the country’s finest musicians, Capriccio’s regular members are all graduates of the Royal College and Royal Academy of Music and they are in demand as chamber, orchestral and session players in the United Kingdom and Europe.

As well as designing the logo and stationery I built the website, which includes samples of the quartets repertoire.
